Pond Hair Grass

hi, I picked up some hair grass (Eleocharis acicularis) for my wildlife pond today. I’m thinking about taking it out of the pot and letting it grow and spread of it’s own free will. Is this a completely stupid idea? What I’ve read suggests it pretty friendly?? Any thoughts?

I have two large pots of hair grass in my pond. They are quite vigorous growers & do benefit from the occasional comb through to remove loose dead grass or sometimes blanket weed. This is easy to do when in pots plus you also have the advantage of moving them to a different spot in the pond if you want.
