Cherries "Stella" in distress

This is what our cherries have started to look like this year.  Rotten, diseased and dropping.  We thought it might be due to under-watering during the recent hot spells, but don't they just go yellow or brown then drop off.  These look worse than that.  You might be able to see that the leave at the end of the stem look unhealthy too.  What could be causing it, and is the plant beyond help?

The leaves look like aphid damage, uncurl one and have a look.
  • Thanks for these helpful comment.  Skandi you're right about the aphid damage.  Treehugger, is there anthing I can do to prevent this happening next year.  I'll remove all the brown ones, and hope those that are still green will ripen.  Is tomato feed good for them?
