Can anyone help me identify this plant please. It is growing in an herbacious border.

    Looks like a Japanese anemone.

    The plant is in the cottage garden of a house my son has just moved into. The border contains lots of traditional cottage plants such as geraniums foxgloves poppies alcamilla etc. but not sure about this one.

    Thank you. My first thought was a Japanese anemone but have never had one so wasn't sure. I took this piece from the edge, the main part is much taller. Is it a rapidly spreading plant?

    They are lovely but i found that they were so invasive i had to pull them all out and it wasnt easy, with deep roots and all the little bits you miss start growing too.

    They flower late summer,mine are dotted among a shrub border.

    Thanks to you all. They do appear to be a bit invasive growing much more rapidly than the other plants in there. I will try to keep them under control!!

    Christine, some types are more invasive than others.
