Plant ID - possibly ferns?

Hi, can anyone help me identify these two plants please?  I think they're both ferns.  Many thanks!

Yes they do look like ferns.
Ferns are extremely hard to id from pics.
But from your pics impossible to say which one

  • Thanks Silver surfer.  Just reading up on ferns generally and it looks like I need to do quite a bit more research into the pinnae, stipes, etc.  I didn't realise how complex they are - they've certainly got me intrigued.

Many ferns are quite promiscuous and frequently hybridise themselves so unless you have a division from a named variety you may find it very difficult to get a firm ID ... but that doesn't detract from their charm  <3

    I agree with Dove.
I love ferns and grew loads  of different ones in old garden...
....from really tiny ones to much larger.
....Ones for wet areas and ones for dry
    Very under rated

  • Thanks both for the info.  I’m really looking forward to seeing how they develop!
