Pittosporum dying in the vase

BerkleyBerkley Posts: 428
I love this wonderful foliage and have used it to accompany a wide range of flowers without ever having any trouble. But this week I used it in three vases - and within twenty-four hours it had died in two of them. Has anyone else ever come across this problem? The shrub itself seems perfectly healthy.

  • Did you put anything else in the water, perhaps to feed the other flowers you added?  Perhaps it was that they didn't like.

Thank you Christine and Freddie's dad for your thoughts. The vases were not in direct sunlight - but it was a very warm day. You're right - the carnations came with a plant food and maybe the pittosporum didn't like it. Your comments have made me realise that it probably wasn't the fact that there's anything wrong with the shrub (or the way I pick it!). I'm going to risk cutting some more tomorrow ...
