Shrub (Viburnum) Espalier

Hello,
I recently purchased a Viburnum 'Charles Lamont'. A book I am reading on pruning and training states you can espalier a Viburnum, however fails to give instructions specifically for a Viburnum. Can anyone give me any tips on how I would do this? How I would start off by pruning, would this be similar say to espalier training a fruit tree? Should I trim the Viburnum to a single stem and cut off the lower branches? Thank you for any help you can provide.
