How do you make a decking non slip?
Hello Gardening World,
Can you help? I have just brought a new house with a decking out the back. With all this rain we have been having in the last week my son and I have fallen over a couple of times. What can I do to stop the decking being so slippery? Do I need a new decking? Or is there treatment I can do, to sort my slippery decking?
thank you for any suggestions you,
Daisy

There are a few options:
1. Treat the decking with a 'non-slip' finish, some info here:

2. Add 'non-slip' GRP strips, some info here:

or inserts

3. Replace the decking with an alternative product such as flag stones / pavers
There is another post on this in the group that answers this question and lots of people have given lots of suggestions.
Personally for years i have used anti slip decking paint, but i have found that some years it lasts 4 months some years 6 months, but you don't know it needs redoing until you slip again.
That being said i have just purchased anti slip decking strips from a company called Dino Grip. on the site it say it has a 5 year guarantee, so i can let you know in 5 years if it lasts. the website is http://www.dinogrip.co.uk/
I dont think a new decking will sort the problem, but this might be costly?? maybe the others in the group have the answer

Thank you for such a nice welcome, and for giving me so much information. That info page is helpful but it looks like the Dino Grip that Daniel suggested is cheaper so I might get it from them.

Thank you for this, can’t believe how quick and helpful people are on this site! ☺️
I will try the Dino grip you suggested as they seem to be cheaper than the one Dave suggested.
Many thanks

No idea why, but I’m sending a little note to the mods for them to check it out.
If you live in Derbyshire, as I do.
Whats gone??
Actually I have the same problem with decking so will be looking at the options as well
