Wisteria 'Amethyst Falls'

Hi all
I have 2 pot grown Wistetia's both 'Amethyst Falls' they are healthy and flower well but the flowers have a rather unpleasant smell, a bit like cat wee. My boyfriend is threatning to dose the plants in round up but I think they are a bit expensive to just get rid of. Does anyone know if there is anything I could add to the soil which might sweeten the smell or likewise if maybe more or less sun might help?

No, there is nothing you can do about that, that is how they smell.  You will often hear people say the same thing about that plant, each to their own, some seem to find it agreeable, others like as you said...   perhaps try and think of the smell in a different way?..  musky?... that sounds better...

Seems a bit drastic to drown them in round up, advertise them on Free serve or similar.
I’m sure someone would like them.

I must be odd, I love the smell of wisteria!

It's only the variety 'Amethyst Falls' in particular, that seems to have this odd smell to it... it's an American Wisteria rather than the usual Japanese or Chinese varieties we normally see..and smell..
