Phormium in trouble - should it stay or should it go

Hiya I have a Phormium plant that isn't doing to well and was hoping to get some advice on what to do. The leaves are all split, new leaves stuggling to get out and if they do, they are split, wavey or roten.  There is water gathering at the base of each leaf. The old leaves a falling over and splitting and are black at the base. I have tried to look it up and have Google searched, and I think it maybe crown rot. Does this sound right or could it be something else?

    Hi Harriet - I don't know or grow Phormiums, but if you could post a photo of your plant hopefully someone will be able to advise on the best course of action.
    A picture speaks a thousand words etc... :)
