Weirdness On Geranium Roots

I have never dug up geraniums before but i don't think this is normal, is it?

I dug 3 or 4 up for my ex-colleague. Then i noticed some little brown egg type things clinging to the roots. My first thought was spiders eggs. Then slug eggs. Then i noticed that they're acually attached to the roots so i wondered if they might be fungus spores or something.

Anyone seen these before?

Are they perlite by any chance?

  • I don't think so mate. I didn't plant them. So it might be possible but these seem to be connected to the roots and the x40 pics seem to show something inside.

    How peculiar.

If the plant looks well and happy, I wouldn't worry.
  • Yeah but...i was going to give them to an ex-colleague. Then she'll take them out of the pots and be like ...."what are these weird little round things on the roots"?

And if it did turn out to be fungus or something bad then hear the end of it, i would not. Never. Ever.
