2 week holiday

Just returned from a wonderful sun filled 2 week holiday in Almeria (1st sun holiday in 10 years).  I had some surprised awaiting me.  I was somewhat shocked by the rate of growth of the bed I had not gotten around to weeding before I went........triffid weeds!!  Newly planted front garden coming along pleasantly well, white c.montana in full flower........wonderful sight.  Wallflowers mostly gone to seed, pink azelia practically in full bloom, seedlings mostly survived.  Dahlias coming along nicely, also the cannas and even the bottlebrush.............all of which I had thought had succumbed to the Beast. This was also the first year I used home made compost, approx. 4 barrowfuls.......I have some lovely potato plants growing too.

What a mixed bag.  It's amazing what happens in the garden over two weeks in late spring.  Hope you had a lovely holiday!

We've just returned home from a week in sunny Cornwall ... next door neighbour watered the plants in pots etc and as you say, everything has grown ......... especially the weedlings in the veg patch  :/

It does seem unfair that weeds grow at a much faster rate than plants @Dovefromabove
