French Lavender help!

LLMLLM Posts: 46
Hi all,

This french lavender seems to have just about survived the winter although its looking very unhealthy. Any ideas of how to get it looking nice without all of the brown/ leggy underneath? I was unsure whether to prune it as some of the buds have started coming through.

Thanks in advance!

I'm afraid there's not much you can do now, it's too late to cut back and they don't really recover when cut back so far down. You could think about taking cuttings from non-flowering shoots instead. They are difficult to over-winter in this country, and the soil needs to be kept dry on the top level with gravel or similar. The continuous splashing back in the soil base area spoils the plant.
