New turf dying?

Hoping someone can help, I had some turf put down last week and although this weather is great. I don't think it's doing my turf much good. Are these parts gone, am I wasting my time watering it? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It needs water. I would also get some topsoil and fill-in the gaps that have opened-up between turf sections. These gaps will accelerate the drying out process which you don't want.

Thanks Dave, I've got lots of top soil so will get filling in the gaps tonight. I didn't want to put top soil down if I had no hope of revving  :)

Mix a little seed in if you have some Craig. Grass is pretty robust. Was the ground underneath prepared well do you think? If the ground was hard then the new turf roots will struggle to take hold. Ideally the top will have been raked to break-up the surface and give the new turf a ‘key’. Definitely get some water on there. Evening would be best.

I have some seed arriving today. The rest of the turf is looking good so I think the ground was prepared ok. How much water do you think I need, keep reading different things online.. should the soil underneath just be damp or visibly wet?

Ideally you keep the turf just damp enough that it encourages the roots to dive down in search of water so it’s a little bit of a balancing act. I would be inclined to give yours a thorough soaking each night for a few days to get it back a little.
