Moving a hosta now

i need to move a hosta as we’re moving house. It’s in the ground but I want to dig it up and put it in a pot. Is it too late? Will it be ok? General advice on how to do it please. Much appreciated.

give it a good soak the day before you lift it and get as big a root ball as you can and it should be fine

And while we’re on the subject of Hostas; how do you get them really massive? Lots of feeding? Dividing regularly? Spacious pots? I saw one at Hidcote in a pot and would like to grow one.

    Patience, and don't divide them.
Not all varieties get huge, some have leaves the size of your thumb nail.
Pick the right variety and give it the best soil/site conditions you can, and just leave it to do its thing.
