Something killing my lilac bush??

Hi, I have just bought a new house and there is a beautiful lilac Bush. I am concerned as it looks like it is dying and another plant is intwined around it? Can anyone advise what this is and if I need to remove? Thanks in advance. 🌿

Unfortunately I think that’s bind weed, hellavajob to get rid of, poisoning is probably the only way with that much.

Have a look at ground level and you should see the stems of the bindweed. Uncurl a  couple of feet of stems and spray with weedkiller. Easier if you lay them on the ground. You can carefully untwine the upper portion and bin. Careful you don't spray precious plants. It will take a couple of weeks to do its stuff so be patient.
