Does anyone know what plant this is?

It was a small cutting but can’t remember who gave it to me, or where it came from! It reminds me of a large leaved fuchsia.

I’d like to put it in the ground soon as it’s getting big, but would like to know what needs it has first, before planting up! Thank you in advance!

Tbh, I thought it was a fuchsia !
  • Thank you so much! I think that is it! Nearly put it in the shady side, glad I didn’t now!   Hostafan1 said:

It does look similar but the leaves are much larger, the picture probably doesn’t show this well though! Thanks for the response :)

Phygelius are known as Cape fuchsias.
He calls her the chocolate girl
Cause he thinks she melts when he touches her
She knows she's the chocolate girl
Cause she's broken up and swallowed
And wrapped in bits of silver

Yes, but apparently cape fuchsia are not related to fuchsias, despite the name, they are closer related to foxgloves or penestemons.

Yes, but they look like fuchsias.
