This was wonderful last year but has 5 new flowers (fading today) and only one new pitcher stem.  It also grew all these new spiky shoots (behind).  What's going on this year?

    That is another plant, perhaps a rush, which you need to get rid of. You might be able to separate them carefully if you remove them from the pot. I cannot see any other solution.
