Alstroemeria Select

Has anyone had dealings with Alstroemeria Select? I placed an order in late February expecting the plants to be delivered around mid-April, but nothing has arrived so far. When I look at their web site, general excuses vary from "The Beast from the East" to "We are a small family firm". I emailed their customer service department a week ago, but that has been completely ignored. Should I be worried, or are they just a bit inefficient? The one thing they did very efficiently was take payment as soon as the order was placed!

We got ours from Hayloft without any problems the only fault we have is they spread like wildfire. I would keep chasing them up and say you will notify the card company to withdraw your payment. Peter

Probably a very old fashioned thing to say these days, but try calling them on the electric talking telephone and finding out what the situation is? Its possible they are suffering a weather-related setback but they ought to let their customers know this and when to expect their plants, or if they can’t supply after all.

I have just been looking on their web site and it looks like they have just taken over from another company whether thats the problem I don't know but they should have let you know.looking at their terms and conditions which didn't load at all. If you do get therm they will be worth it and in a few years you will have plenty.Regards Peter
  • I took Nollie's advice and tried ringing them. That call went to an answering service which told me that the "mailbox is full - please try again later". Bearing in mind that my email to them over a week ago also went completely unanswered, the whole thing is beginning to look suspicious - at best a complete shambles, or maybe something worse. As they cannot be contacted either by email or telephone, I suspect that my only option is a recorded delivery letter setting out a deadline.

Sorry that didn’t work, northshields, hmm, if a bona fide company have taken them over directly (rather than their having gone into receivership/bankruptcy) you might stand a chance of seeing either some plants or your money back at some point. Perhaps they are just overwhelmed trying to sort out their new business and a backlog of orders. They certainly haven’t got the customers services side sorted yet!

  • On looking at this further, I see that they are the same business as Primrose Hall Nursery (same address, same phone number etc.) Apparently as Primrose Hall they featured in an edition of Gardeners World in October last year, though in the light of my experience, I am not sure how the BBC ever got in touch with them to arrange things!

I too am trying to get my order.  Tried phoning - mail box full.  Tried emailing - no reply. Why can't they just email to say when they can fill and dispatch the order.  PLEASE PLEASE Alstroemeria Select if you are reading this forum look after your customers.  That is where your bread and butter comes from - CUSTOMERS.

If it is any encouragement, I have just received my plants (ordered 27th February). Nevertheless, however good the plants turn out to be, I wouldn't dream of dealing again with a company that has, literally, no customer service at all.

Good morning, I was hesitant to buy because of the reviews ... but I saw that now they too have had their hands in writing that the plants will be sent from May onwards. Surely they have a little communication, but being a small one company can be understood. Anyway order made on 10/01/2019 arrived today 11/06/2019 Total purchase 18 Alstroemeria plants. They have a lot of quality Alstroemeria and it is difficult to find such an assortment in Europe .. .. .
