I have seen compact clematis like Nubia shown planted in hanging baskets. I've never seen it in real life. Would it be a good idea? I'd like to try it with a Nubia if the plant wouldn't suffer...
Deep baskets, good compost, plenty of food, a mulch to reduce water loss and water every day. I did it one year with a Sunset and a Silver Moon but planted them out in the garden at the end of the season when I saw how cramped their roots had become.
Silver Moon then had to be moved to a pot to make way for works and came with me to this new garden. Just about to flower. Gorgeous clem.
Haven't come across Nubia so can't help with that one.
