Exochorda with no flowers

BijdezeeBijdezee Posts: 1,484
I have an Exochorda x macrantha 'the bride' plant that i raised from seeds off a relatves plant. It is now 4 years old and still never flowered. I told it that this year is its last chance and if it fails to flower then it's out!

So, I'm wondering if the lack of flowers is because it came from seed? And should i just give up and oik it out? It has been fed correctly etc and has good soil and sun. What do you think?

Seed grown shrubs and trees usually do take longer to flower than those grown from cuttings.   I suggest you give it another couple of years and maybe a few liquid rose or tomato feeds to encourage flower formation as well as a handful of slow release rose or tomato fertiliser each spring.
