Sycamore problems

Hi all, we have a large old sycamore in our garden, today when I came home I noticed that a group of branches over our neighbors garden doesn’t have any leaves on them this year.
Does anyone have any idea what may have caused this? Could it be due to this years strange erratic weather? Will it just grow back next year or is this a sign of a real problem that will just get worse? The tree has a preservation order on it so we haven’t cut it and we really don’t want to lose it. Any ideas / thoughts please?

May be best to get a tree surgeon to have a look.

If you can reach them you could check to see if they are green under the bark, other than looking to see if there's any damage or fungus there's not much you can do, and as it has  a protection order on it I would guess you will need a professional
opinion even if it is to cut off a dead branch.

Did you neighbours have a bonfire?
