Japanese Acer Help - Is it dying?
in Plants
Hi,
This is my first post to these forums. Being a real novice gardener I could do with a little advice regarding my Japenese Acer.
I bought the attached Acer last autumn and planted it in an area of the garden that gets partial shade. The leaves have started to come through this spring over the last couple of weeks but they appear to be wilted - is this normal?
I can't claim to know a great deal about Acers, we have grown a couple of smaller ones in previous homes we lived in and enjoyed them, so decided to splash out on a more mature tree for our new house. It's around 7ft tall and, to my rookie mind, looks fairly healthy on the whole except for the leaves.
I've attached a couple of images. Does anyone have any thoughts or advice?
Thanks
Neil

I've got 4 acers, 1 has lime green foliage and last week the leaves looked exactly as yours does. A week on and the leaves look normal now. It goes through this stage every year, so I think yours is fine and in a few days the leaves will look fine as they unfurl

Thanks though, I appreciate that, hopefully it'll look a bit better in the next week or so.
