Do you have Gardenia, and just how difficult is it to keep?

I've been thinking about getting one mail-order, but having read about its temperature requirements, it seems likely that it will suffer in the post. Have you had one delivered that prospered? Have you managed to propagate them? Trying to get seeds to germinate sounds like a lot of trouble.

It's not that uncommon to find small plants on sale during the spring and summer, that's how I've always got mine.
The one I did best with I re-potted almost as soon as I got it home, then kept it on a windowsill that had proved successful before. I had it for a year or two, but lost it when inevitably I fell behind on the watering, misting and general care. Lovely plants and scent, but prima donnas!

Hi elderberry.I had an indoor one before. I served it as much as I could but it did not make into its 2nd year.
But I love the scent so much so I ordered a 'hardy' one from Sarah Raven. I just want to give it a go. It is supposed to be sent out in May.

That would be the Kleim's Hardy? I wonder if the added hardiness comes at the expense of the scent?

So your strategy is to keep re-buying them?

Yes that is it! According to the description, it has delicious scent. We shall see then.

I've bought 3, maybe 4. I don't ever buy cut flowers, but like to have some pretty houseplants, so buy those I can't get by growing them myself.
