Bay tree cracks in bark. Is the tree doomed to death?
Hi everyone. I planted some Laurus nobilis lollipops last Autumn and now one of them has a lot of cracks in the bark and the bark seems loose. I think it is the subzero temperatures and frequent snow we had in Gloucestershire that seems to me to have been the cause. Some of the bark is peeling away completely at the bottom and it is brown underneath so I guess the vascular system has died there. Is there anything I can do to try and save the tree please? The leaves are beginning to look a bit sickly
