Garden plants question -dead or alive

hi everyone ! New to gardening from last year. Planted some lavender and Pieris last spring and now I’m scratching my head wondering if they’re now needing pulled up ? Or is it still to early to be thinking about this? I was careful not to trim the lavender into the wood last autumn and the Pieris never really took off. Every garden around me has lavender and Pieris in it and mines is rubbish 😫 garden envy indeed.

    Hello bigpaparini. Sadly I think your heather is gone but there is hope for your pieris. It seems to be quite tiny at the moment so I'd just be patient.

    I think your right . I could still smell lavender from it so I think that was giving me false hope .  The Pieris hasn’t grown at all since I bought it . Maybe this year 😂 thanks again for prompt response
