Last year my vegetable garden was a disaster it may have been the weather but what should I fertilise  my veg patch with? I grow mainly beans peas courgette and purple broccoli

I used Fish, Blood, and Bone meal, as a general all purpose veg (and every other plant in my garden) fertilizer.  It gives a good balance of nutrients, as well as 'feeding' the soil along with the plants.
