How to eradicate Marestails/ Horsetail

It has been an ongoing struggle since 2009 when I moved in, however my latest attempt in 2016 was radical but fingers crossed it has worked permanently - I turned my marestails infested walled flowerbed into a compost heap.
Rather than create a separate post I have added it to the original maretails thread. Search under maretails for a full report if you need help with this nastie.
