Lilac problem

Hi all I am a newbi.. I have been given 2 lilac suckers, one of which is 2mtres tall. It had buds on and After being planted a couple of weeks now, the buds are now started to flower.  It has no leaves?  The other about 1 metre high has just got buds on.  They both only had hair line roots when I received them, which has got me worried wether they take or not.  As I have never grown lilacs before, it seems as if I have a lot of studying to do. Can any one help please. John 😀

I'd cut them right back to just above a bud. If it's only got tiny roots it won't be able to support flowering.

  • Nutcutlet  Its the common lilac Charles something? The buds are at the end of the branches.
