Can I bring my lemon plant back to life

A while back my dad planted a lemon seed ,without much knowledge of plants he popped it right into a pot with soil and left it in the sun.Then he started to forget about it ,and left it outside completely.The plant would be drenched in rain water 80% of the time,obviously because the sun left after summer.Then I realised I had to take over ,but I’m not sure if it is possible to save the plant.ive pruned the dead leaves and brown stem.And now I have found some green towards the bottom of the stem and I also added miracle gro.
Is it too late?
Did I make it worse with miraclegro?
