    The 2nd one looks really familiar to me, maybe a salvia?

    No 1 resembles some sort of Violaceae seedling, a bit purplish from the weather or a trait?

    Probably a trait as I like dark foliage

    Having gone through what I planted last year @Pete8 it could be salvia a a amistad.  The second darker one could be sedum voodoo.

    That may be it then Mary - I've got several Amistads in the garden. I saw one today struggling against the slugs to get its head above the ground
