What are these weeds in my lawn?!!
Hi. I have big swathes of these in the lawn. I have tried multi purpose feed and weed killer but to no avail. Wondering if I need something more specific but don’t know what they are! They are beginning to seed already in late March! Thanks.

I have them too Graham although not to that degree. I did lot's of 'research' when I first realised I had them and settled on them being a (nut)sedge / woodrush of some kind. Bad news is they don't respond to a selective (lawn) weedkiller. I've been gradually digging them out but it's a painful process. You have my sympathies!

Luzula campestris ...
a nuisance in lawns because as you've discovered it doesn't respond to lawn weedkillers. However, you can improve the soil conditions by increasing the alkalinity which will discourage it.

The RHS also recommends adding lime but says it also occurs where there is thatch so try buying or hiring a scarifier to scrag the lawn and remove dead bits of grass, moss, leaf litter which help increase acidity as well as weakening your grass. It needs to be strong to compete against the broader leaved woodrush.
