Dear All,

I want to be able to weed my patio without using weedkiller; is there an easy way to keep on top of this difficult job?

There are only 3 options I think - weedkiller, handweeding with an old knife or a flame gun. Or a pressure washer which will force the weeds out, but also take the sand out as well!

I don't think there is an easy way. I use an old hoof-pick on an area like this: it takes ages and is hard on the knees. I don't do it very often.....

In my local garden centre they sell a long-handled wire brush, which would work well in the situation pictured. I also use a good quality builder's pointing trowel - just draw it along the joins at an angle. How big an area have you got?

Any kind of pokey tool that I use tends to be Gaffer taped onto a stick. I can't be doing with that hands and knees malarky for over 100sq m.
Once you have it done you can maintain it with one of the wash & walk away detergent products on the market. Not a weedkiller as such.
