Digging over...
in Fruit & veg
Hi all
For one reason and another I was unable to dig my plot over as I traditionally did in Oct/Nov.
I've seen advice not to try and dig over now because of the wet/cold weather, but I have held a couple of bonfires on the plot so there's the remnants of those on the surface.
My question is whether I should dig over in March, before sowing, or whether forking and hoeing the surface will surfice? The soil is predominantly clay.
Thanks and looking forward to spring!
Tom

If you've dug it over in previous years I'm sure just a light forking and raking it down to a find tilth will be fine. That's all i do with my veg patch now it's in good heart.
You could spread some well-rotted manure on the areas where you don't plan to grow roof vegetables ... then just fork it in when the ground is fit to work.
