Mystery cherry doesn't crop
in Fruit & veg
Hi forum,
I have a self sown cherry on a roof terrace in central London. It does suffer by the end of the year from wind damage, but it always flowers and spends most of the year very healthily, but it sets very little fruit. I want to get a second cherry to help pollinate it.
Which tree should I go for, as I have no idea what sort of cherry it is, the cherries that do form are bright rather than dark red.
The second tree should ideally be on a dwarf stock, Gisela?, so it doesn't get too big and is easily pruned. But which variety is most likely to work with my mystery tree?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Mike
