Hi, I am trying to identify a tree that I would like to buy but can't because I don't know the name. It is a small garden tree that carries dark red cone shaped 'flowers' during the summer. In the autumn the leaves turn a glorious flame red. Can anyone help please?

Probably rhus typhinus or stag's horn sumach. The dissecta form has even better leaves. Beware tho, both sucker and spread.
