PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION IF YOU CARE ABOUT THE FATE OF BRITAIN’S REMAINING ANCIENT WOODLANDS
THANKS FOR YOUR SIGNATURES.
THERE IS A PIECE OF ANCIENT WOODLAND, MENTIONED IN DOCUMENTS GOING BACK TO THE TWELFTH CENTURY WHICH ISHEFFIELD CITY COUNCIL,HAS BEEN CONSIDERING FOR CONVERSION TO A MOTORWAY SERVICE STATION FOR ABOUT TWO YEARS.
IT HAS BEEN USED AS A RUBBISH DUMP FOR GENERATIONS AND LOOKS LIKE IT. BUT IT HAS BEEN RECOGNISED AS A HOME FOR SEVERAL RARE SPECIES.
BUT BECAUSE IT LOOKS LIKE RUBBISH IT IS CONSIDERED TO BE RUBBISH.
THERE ARE MANY ANCIENT WOODLANDS WHICH ARE IN A SIMILAR STATE. SOME OF THEM IN THE PROPOSED PATH OF HS2.
SIGNING THE PETITION MAY NOT ACHIEVE ANYTHING. NOT SIGNING THE PETITION CERTAINLY WILL.

Done. Thanks, Pansy.
Done - thanks for bringing it up here
Done , Pansy.
Lets hope it helps!
What some people don't realise is that it's not the age of the trees in the woodland that makes the woodland so important ... it's the fact that the area has had nothing but woodland on it for so very long, and a whole unique ecosystem has developed around it ... that cannot be replaced, even in a couple of hundred years, by planting new woodland elsewhere, whatever Mrs May may like to think
Visited Strelley Hall in Nottinghamshire last Autumn ; very old country estate with superb landscaped surroundings . Oldest parts date back (I think) to the 14/1500s .
Ancient Yews and giant Cedars galore ;
HS 2 is planned to cut right through the lot !!! So much for the governments environmental considerations !
Done by OH and me, Pansy. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.
