Too late to trim strawberries?

I am a new allotmenteer and have an overgrown strawberry patch in my new allotment, in fact they are everywhere! I'm trying to tidy them up this year, but only just found out they should have been trimmed after they fruited.. is it too late now? Could you give me any advice on how to choose which plants to keep and which to get rid of and when to do so? Thanks in advance!

Yes, I'm new here and I have no idea what I have and how long they've been here, I have an vergrown patch, very densely filled with strawberry plants, and lots of individual plants everywhere, so lot's to choose from. I had a very good crop most of them last spring/summer when I got the allotment. Do you think I should trim them or just leave them as they are?
