Bulbs/Plants to grow around comfrey for winter interest (and use?)

Hi all

I have planted Comfrey Bocking 14 in various spots around my garden, including the front bank of the house.  Now that it has all died back for winter, it is looking somewhat bare and unattractive.  I was wondering if it would it be possible to plant bulbs or something similar around the Comfrey that would give some ground cover and interest at this time of year.  I was thinking possibly snowdrops or maybe primroses.  I live in the countryside so would prefer something in-keeping and not too fancy and would love something that could have a use.  

Any ideas would be gratefully received.

The problem with comfrey is that it tends to spread and swamp other plants.  You could certainly plant some daffs next autumn and they will come up in late winter/early spring but that still leaves you with the 2 or 3 months after the comfrey has gone dormant.

You could try planting some ornamental grasses of the "wave in the wind" and evergreen type to take the eye away - care buchananii types.   Alternatively, once the plants go dormant I suggest yo put on a mulch of well-rotted garden compost which will look better and feed the soil.

snowdrops might work. or early narcissi. You'd need something that was over and the leaves died back before being swamped by comnfrey or they would soon die out. 

ground cover plants would need more light through the summer than comfrey would allow ,
