Raspberries - Summer or Autumn

I have just been given a patch of soil which contains some canes and neither the owner nor I know if they are S or A fruiting
The plants have 5 or 6 medium brown canes per plant and are about 3 foot tall
Advice please friends
Everyone is just trying to be Happy.....So lets help Them.

cut 3 from each plant to the ground and split the difference? You'll know for sure next year ...
