I saw a programme recently that talked about digging up and dividing 'society garlic'. Never heard of it before! Any help anyone? Many thanks

I think this could be Tulbaghia violacea
Mistakenly sometimes called 'Pink Agapanthus' (stick to latin names)!! ; Tulbaghias are much more tender than the common grown garlic-bulb , and best overwintered under glass , kept on the dry side .
I have mine in the garden.
The frost (when we get it) cuts down the foliage and pervades the garden with a strong smell of garlic!!
Comes back every year though.
