Small Chrysanthemum bush type plants.

BMLBML Posts: 151

I have bought a few pots of Chrysanthemums over the past few months.  The are in pots about nine inches wide which hold an absolute profusion of small blooms about eighteen inches across and the individual blooms are about an inch across.  The ones I have are just going over so do I just compost them or is there any point in keeping them in the hope that they will grow again.  If I knew how I would attempt to grow such plants but I don't have the skill.

I kept mine. I can't leave them in the ground over winter because it gets very wet and I have lots of slugs so they go in a coldframe until spring and flower each year. However, they do get taller and taller until they reach their natural size. I don't know how the growers make them so short!

Many thanks, I'll give it a try.

  • In spring I would either pot on to a larger pot or tease out the roots and refresh the compost if you want to keep the same pot size.
