Staying safe on the computer

I'm always careful to make sure my anti-virus software is up to date and today received notification that it expires in early January and can be automatically renewed.

They want £69.99 for automatic renewal.  I can purchase the same item direct from them as a new customer for £29.99 and from Argos for £22.99.

As a special offer because I'm an existing customer they'll send me a £15 voucher if I renew.  Tough decision but I think I'll decline their generous offer.

Download Avira Free-Antivirus from Filepuma or Techspot downloads ; it costs nothing and is just as effective as the 'paid for' versions .

    Used it for years !image

If you've got an account with Barclays and registered for on-line banking you can get Kaspersky free and renewed each year - for PC and mobile

I use Windows Defender which comes with Windows 10 and had no problems.

Also run Malwarebytes (free version) as added protection.
