Madagascan Palm

Called in at  Lidl in Lincoln the other day , my eyes were drawn to the stand there selling 'Mixed Palms' . Amidst all the usual parlour palms and Trachycarpus etc , what should stand out dramatically but a 2' specimen of the so-called Madagascan Palm

(Pachypodium lamerei) ; this is a 'choice' plant beloved of many a grower of 'oddities' such as myself (the plants , not me)!

Hardly containing my excitement , I grabbed it and rushed to the till . To find something like that in a supermarket is (to me) amazing .

It's surprising  what you find in the most unlikely situations image .
