If you planted sets of a variety suitable for autumn planting you should have nothing to worry about.
The bulbs won't begin to swell until late spring ... then the leaves will begin to die down and your onions should be ready to harvest in the summer.

My area has a tropical climate and its already our dry season. How long would it grow?I planted a short day variety and I think the amount of sunlight is sufficient for bulbing. How long would It take to start bulbing?
This is a UK based forum and your seasons are quite different from ours. I suggest you seek advice from other growers or gardening clubs in your area.
Good luck
Thanks for the info anyway!Good to know that bulb shrinking is normal
