I live in Cornwall and want to repot some hostas, is it too late for this year and if so when is the best time. Should I water over the winter or rely on rainfall which we usually have plenty of!
OP - you can do it now. When you say 'repot' I'm assuming they are currently in pots and you're planning to move them into bigger ones? If so then any time is OK and while they are dormant over winter is good.
It's always sensible to give a plant that you've disturbed a good watering immediately - it helps settle the soil against the roots apart from anything else. But then don't water them again over winter while they have no leaves on them or they'll just either freeze or get waterlogged.
