I have three cannas in the ground. Previously they were in pots and I never protected them but they didn't die.

They are currently just about to flower. Do I need to do something with them. it is getting cold now.

Roughly, what's your location and what's your soil like? ( dry / sandy, heavy clay? etc)

Midlands and clay but with lots of top soil added.

they don't like standing in cold wet soil, that's for sure. I left some of mine  ( Devon, very wet here, but improved, clay soil ) and to my surprise they were fine.

  • I left mine out in the garden for the past 2 years and they have given me flowers each time. I give them a heavy mulch about now. Area...Dorset and the soil is heavy clay in some areas.
