Yep unripe figs so at this time of year they're for the compost ... look out for small pea sized ones on the tree ... these should be left to overwinter and with luck and a fair wind they'll grow in time to ripen in the summer.
The problem with figs in this climate is that they then go on to produce a second crop and our summers aren't long enough to ripen them ... that's what you've got. Sooooooo frustrating
