  • If you can please supply a name or a picture of the flower then it is possible to decide the correct pruning regime for your plant.  How many stems are there ?

Hi Dorcas - if it's Rouge Cardinal, you need to cut it back hard in late winter/early spring. Keep it well watered, and it should produce more stems [and flowers ] as it matures. If it's in a container, it needs to be a big one, and you need to make sure it has a suitable medium to grow in - not just compost.
It should be flowering at this time of year. It goes on for ages if it's happy. One of my favourites, and I'm about to get one for his garden, having had it in previous gardens. It's a really good do-er, so look after it well and it will reward you  :)
If you can resize pix to around 1MB, they'll load more easily. You should have that facility on the device/server you use, but if not, there's a guide somewhere on the forum to help. If I can find it - I'll do a link  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Think this is it - you may need to go back a few pages to find out the method  :)
