Choosing the right Climbing Rose
I'm an amateur gardener based in a village close to Barcelona, Spain.
The thing is that I want to buy a climbing rose for a structure I built last summer, but since I haven't got a lot of space in my garden I don't want to make mistakes with my choice.
We have pure Mediterranean climate: really dry and hot summer and mild to cold winters (-3°C). We have some rain during autumn and spring.
The soil of my garden is composed of clay, and since is not as wet as yours in UK, it can be really heavy and dry.
My idea is to get a rose able to thrive in this conditions (drought resistant). Plus, I'd like to have a rose that is resistent to diseases and that can tolerate pure summer sun.
I love almost any kind of colours except oranges and yellows, and I rather prefer a simple rose than something extravagant.
Thank you a lot from Spain
