I have some rose bushes not doing very well in their present place so have made a new bed for them. Any tips on how to lift them, do I need to trim the roots etc.
Admittedly I'm no expert on roses , but when I've been asked by people to move any at this time of year , I tend to prune quite hard (to retain moisture in the plant) , even at the expense of late flowers .
Root pruning is optional , they are very tough plants and maybe a tidying up does some good . Given a fresh moisture retaining soil , I can't forsee any problems .
A sunny moist position is optimal for good flowering .
